WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TET AND SUPER TET?

The Super Teacher Eligibility Test, or Super TET, is administered at the state level by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board to appoint primary and secondary school teachers in government institutions. Just like the REET exam, this exam is conducted once a year and held in an offline mode.

TET, or the Teacher Eligibility Test, is conducted by the Central Government to appoint teachers for Classes 1 to 8. This exam is held under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.

Eligibility Criteria: Super TET Versus TET

Although both the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) and the Super TET have the same goal of determining candidates’ eligibility to teach at the primary and secondary levels, there are significant differences in the exam conducting body, mode of examination, frequency of examination, medium of examination, applicability and eligibility between the two. Hence, their eligibility criteria also differ as follows:

 

Super TET TET
●        The minimum age limit to apply for the Super TET exam is 21 years, and the maximum is 40 years.

●        If you are applying for the post of Assistant teacher, then the minimum qualification should be graduation.

●        If you are applying for the post of Principal, the minimum qualification should be graduation and 5-years of work experience.

●        If you are applying for Super TET primary classes, i.e. 1 to 5, you need a minimum of 50% marks and a graduation degree or diploma.

●        If you are applying for Super TET Junior classes, i.e. 5 to 8, then a minimum of 50 % in graduation or 45% in B.Ed.

●        The minimum age limit to apply for the TET exam is 18 years, and there is no upper limit.

●        The educational qualification for TET Paper 1 should pass higher secondary with at least 50% marks and a two-year diploma programme in education.

●        The educational qualification for TET Paper 2 includes higher secondary with at least 45% marks and graduation and pass in a two-year Diploma programme or four-year bachelor in education.

●        No prior experience is required. When you get selected, they provide you with training.

Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the SUPER TET and TET qualification criteria. Validation of TET and Super TET Certificates

Candidates are issued a validation certificate after completing the teacher eligibility test entrance examinations. Super TET examination certificates are good for seven years. Previously, the TET Certificate was only valid for 7 years. However, the Ministry of Education has recently finalised the lifetime validity of the TET Certificate.

Application Fees for the Super TET and TET

The cost of applying for the TET exam or Super TET exam for general candidates is INR 600, INR 400 for SC/ST and INR 100 for PWD category candidates. If you want to take the test for both papers, it is INR 1200 for the General category, INR 800 for the SC/ST, and INR 200 for the PWD category students.
