After enjoying the year-delayed Tokyo Olympics this summer, you may be eager to know what sporting events you can look forward to in 2022. Don’t worry, there will be so many options that you’ll be sure to find an event that interests you!

Kickstart your 2022 by tuning into the PDC World Darts Championship held in January. The tournament takes place from the 15th of December 2021 to the 3rd of January 2022. Furthermore, If you enjoyed the summer olympics, be sure to catch the 2022 Winter Olympics. It will be held in Beijing, China from the 4th to the 20th of February and will feature sports such as figure skating, skiing and ice hockey. Also held in February is the NFL Super Bowl on the 13th. A must watch for fans of American football, if not for the sport then for the much anticipated halftime show. This year the halftime show will be featuring Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Bilge and Eminem.

As March rolls around, the spring weather will bring good grounds for horse racing. Get your bets on for the Cheltenham Festival held from the 15th to the 18th of March. Some of the racing favourites this year include Chacun Pour Soi, Bob Olinger and Monkfish. Next, the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup will take place from the 4th of March all the way until the 3rd of April. It will be held in New Zealand.

May will see the 2022 UEFA Champions League final on the 28th of May. It will be held at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia but you can catch it on television, perhaps in the local sports bar! In June you can enjoy the summer by tuning into the tennis grand slam: The Championships, Wimbledon held from the 27th of June to the 10th of July. Novak Djokovic is the defending men’s singles champion, while Ash Barth is the women’s defending singles champion.

From July 1st you can watch the cyclists’ grand départ from Copenhagen for the 2022 Tour de France. The event will span over 24 days, with the cyclists due to arrive at the Champs-Élysées in Paris, France. If cycling isn’t your thing, how about golf? The AIG Women’s Open takes place from the 4th to the 7th of August where the best female golfers from around the world will tackle the championship links.

If you enjoyed the Cheltenham Festival in March, you should catch the 2022 FEI World Equestrian Games in September. It will be held from the 14th-18th and you will be able to witness competitions such as show jumping and dressage. This event is only held every four years so you wouldn’t want to miss it! On October 2nd you can tune into the London Marathon to watch (from the comfort of your sofa) as runners complete a whopping 26.2 miles.

Running into November is the Rugby World Cup, which will take place from October 15th to November 19th. It is actually the 2021 league which had to be postponed due to the pandemic, so be sure to catch it in 2022. Finally, December will be the host month of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final on the 18th. The finalist teams are of course to be decided, but this is a must-watch for soccer fanatics.
