The Evolution of Vaping Technologies

March 22, 2019 0 By Tech Junkie

It may come as a surprise to a lot of people but vaping has been around since 2004. It only recently became mainstream and has gained popularity. The value of the vaping industry was somewhere close to $14 billion in the year 2017. It is expected to keep rising and hit approximately $50 billion by the year 2025 and companies like blazedvapes are an aid to the growth of the vaping industry.

Obviously, since it has been around for such a long time, the type of vaping devices that came out in 2004 and the ones that exist right now in 2019 have a long list of differences. Vapes have been updated and changed over numerous iterations to keep it relevant to the current world and at the same time making it a much better and easier product for people to use.

The Evolution

The iteration or development of the vaping devices over the past decade or so can be divided into 3 generations of products.

•The 1st Generation

When it came out, it was designed to resemble something close to the traditional tobacco cigarettes that have existed for so long now. It was a tad bit heavier and bigger and hence had the name of “cig-a-likes”.

“Cig-a-likes” came in two models, both a disposable one and a rechargeable one. Some of the ex-smokers would still prefer this one over the newer generations of products since it gives that “authentic” cigarette feel. They are compact and are available at a very cheap price, but they come short when it comes to battery life which does not last very long unfortunately and does not have the option of flavours.

•The 2nd Generation

The second generation products were considerably larger than the previous generation. They were designed to resemble a pen, and are rechargeable. They have the advantage of having a longer and better battery life which is highly needed.

They are cost effective and also provide high quality and rich experience of vapour. Some of the second generation devices have the option to adjust the voltage of the device to suit the needs of the people.

•The 3rd Generation

Mods and Advanced Personal Vaporizers (APVs) are the third generation products and don’t look like traditional cigarettes. This generation became popular amongst the younger generation and hobbyists, as more and more people are making the switch from tobacco cigarettes to vapes in search of a healthier lifestyle.

They are fully customizable and provide the options of adjusting voltage, sub-ohm tanks, displaying the voltage and airflow control. This is what makes these 3rd generation devices more expensive.

The Present

In this fast-paced world, developers and product manufacturers need to make advancements so that they can stay up to date with the upcoming technologies so that the experience provided by the devices keeps getting better and better.

Some manufacturing companies make use of titanium or nickel wires in new atomizers. This provides the functionality of being able to couple them with higher-wattage. This makes temperature regulation of the device even more sensory.

Sub-ohm vapes are the most updated technology available right now, which provides the experience of massive vapour clouds. Pod vapes come with OLED or LCD displays, which makes them incredibly convenient and easy to use, enabling you to control everything like temperature etc. to suit your preferences. All these can be bought on any big vaping website like blazedvapes.com

The Future

While we have come a long way from those disposable and cheap “cig-a-likes”, there is still room for improvement.

•Battery

A vape can only be enjoyed as long as its battery lasts. Though improvements have been made, we are yet to see a significant change in the type of batteries used in the vaping devices to make them last longer.

•Atomizer Coil

At an average, the atomizer coil of a vaping device roughly lasts 1-3 weeks. Manufacturers are working to make them last for months so that there is not a need to replace them so frequently.

•User Experience

With the development of processors over the period of time, we could see better microprocessors installed in vape pods, which gives them the chance to have many more software features, making the user experience much better than it already is.

The growth of the vaping industry has been phenomenal, and with the demand for vapes increasing, we can see huge improvements in the vaping technology in the years to come.
